It is estimated that 26 million people live in the Nordic nations. The nations have many commonalities in terms of education, civil rights, quality of life, and economic competitiveness.

The Nordics consists of eight countries and territories. Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the Aland Islands comprise this grouping. Over three-quarters of the region’s overall population are ethnic Scandinavians, the biggest group in the region.

The Finns are the second-largest ethnic group in the world, and they own the lion’s share of the country’s territory. The Sami and Greenlandic Inuit are only two of the many indigenous peoples that call the Nordic nations home.

All in all, these nations’ populations speak 18 different languages. Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Faroese are some of the native Germanic languages. Greenlandic, Finnish, and Sami are among the indigenous non-Germanic languages.

There is a strong Lutheran influence in all of the Nordic nations. Over 10 million people live in Sweden, the most populated Nordic country.

The Aland Islands, which have a population of 29,489, are the least populated. Greenland is the world’s biggest nation in terms of land area, yet it is also the world’s least populated.
