Five New Sports Introduced In Olympic Games 2022

Tokyo, Japan, will host the 2022 Olympic Games from July 24 to August 9, 2022. The Olympic Games organizers have a history of adding new sporting events every four years.

According to Olympics.org, the next Olympic Games will include five new sports: baseball, softball, Karate, surfing, sport climbing, and skateboarding, in keeping with tradition. All five games have been authorized for inclusion in the 2022 Olympics by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

1. Baseball and softball are two of the most popular sports in the United States.

Baseball and softball will be added to the Olympics in 2022. Softball is a ball sport that is quite popular in Japan. It belongs to the rounders genre of ball sports. During the 18th century, it was a popular game in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The sport is played with two teams, each with nine players, the attack and defense. Batting is done by the offensive, while the defense does pitching and fielding. A team wins when it scores many runs from base to base that cover four bases.

The distinction between softball and baseball is that softball pitchers toss the balls underhand rather than overhand like baseball pitchers. Baseball/softball will be played by both men and women in the 2022 Olympics.

2. Karate  –

Karate is a martial art that trains you how to kick, strike, and block using your arms and legs. The sport originated in East Asia and has developed into the Karate we know today. Japan was the first nation to modernize the game.

Karate has a complicated ranking system that is indicated by the color of the players’ belts. There will be just two categories of Karate in the 2020 Olympics: Kata and Kumite.

The judges will decide based on the participant’s breathing, strength, concentration, rhythm, and speed. On the other hand, Kumite is a Karate game in which the opponents gain points based on punches, strikes, kicks, and throws. Male and female players will compete in Kumite and Kata.

3. Skateboard –

Skateboarding is a sport that has become more popular among the millennial age. Park and Street are the two primary forms of games played at the 2020 Olympics.

Park involves skating on ramps and is scored on the speed and height of the jumps and the grabs performed throughout the game. On the other hand, street skating is in urban areas with obstacles such as benches, crates, and stair sets. The maneuvers’ complexity is used to determine the winner.

4. Climbing for Sport –

Sport climbing is a kind of rock climbing that involves climbing artificial walls. Speed climbing, bouldering, and lead climbing are three notable disciplines of the sport that will be included at the 2020 Olympics.

Speed climbing pits competitors against one other on a 15-meter wall, with the quickest climber emerging victorious. Bouldering, on the other hand, is the practice of climbing a designated area of rock or a climbing wall without using ropes.

Finally, lead climbing uses ropes to ascend a pre-determined path on a climbing wall or rock.

5. Surfing

Surfing is an aquatic sport where the surfer rides a wave toward the coast. Competitors will ride actual waves at the Shidshita beach, some 40 miles from Tokyo, during the Olympics in 2022.

Surfers with the most fantastic maneuvering abilities will win the day based on difficulty, speed, flow, and power.
