Wakefield is one of the cities in West Yorkshire in England with more than 330,000 inhabitants. The city is situated along the River Calder. The city is a beautiful location that draws tourists from all over.

The city’s name could have come from the field of Waca. The field is bare property owned by an individual named Waca.

Some theories suggest that the name Waca was derived from the English word called awake. The meaning of which is observer or wake.

According to the history one of the rhymes “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush” it was the chant of female prisoners of prison in the Wakefield prison. Another song refers to “The The Grand Old Duke of York” and is derived from the Battle of Wakefield which took place in 1460.
