A federal state is a political entity characterized by a union of partially self-governing provinces, states, or other regions under a central federal government (federalism).

India

As a federal state, India covers an enormous area. Punjab, Bihar, Assam, and Kerala are just a few of India’s 28 states. In addition, India has eight states and territories.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh Lakshadweep, and Puducherry are all part of the Union Territories (UTs), which are autonomous regions within India.
Brazil

26 states in all makeup Brazil as a whole. Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo are two of the country’s most populous states. Brazil’s states include Roraima, Piaui, Goias, and Paraiba, as well as the rest of the nation. In Brazil, the federal district, or Distrito Federal, governs the conglomeration of states.
Russia

There are several federal states in Russia, each of which contributes to the country’s overall unity. The Oblasts include Amur, Omsk, Saratov, and Kirov, the biggest state divisions. There are a total of 46 Oblasts throughout the whole game.
There are a further 22 Republics up the food chain. In the next section are nine Krais, followed by four Okrugs that are completely independent. Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sevastopol are three of Crimea’s federal cities. Russia also has a single Oblast that is completely independent of Moscow.
Germany

The nation of Germany is made up of sixteen smaller states. Several states follow old geographical boundaries, and the states help identify distinct areas. Berlin, Bavaria, Hamburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, and Saxony are some of the most populated and biggest German states.
Switzerland

It’s no surprise that Switzerland, like Germany, has several states that work together to form a larger nation. There are a total of 26 cantons in Switzerland. Bern, Geneva, Lucerne, Vaud, and Zurich are the five largest and most populous cantons.
Many of Switzerland’s Cantons are splintered along long-established dynastic lineages of nobility. It has become more common for the old borders to be repurposed as modern-day political divides.
Australia

The nation of Australia is made up of six separate political entities. New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia are among the Australian states.
Three of Australia’s territories are located inside the country, while seven of Australia’s territories are located outside the country.
Nigeria

Nigeria’s 36 different states contribute to Africa’s unity through diversity. Abia, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Imo, Kano, Lagos, and Osun are some of the states of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) serves as the country’s administrative headquarters and houses the country’s executive branch. From the three neighboring states, the Federal Capital Territory was founded.
United States

The 50 states that comprise the United States work together to form a single nation. New York, Texas, California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Florida are some of the most populous states in the United States.
The District of Columbia, a federal district in the United States, is home to the executive branch’s offices. Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa are all unincorporated territories. Palmyra Atoll is one of the territories that has been integrated.
