Countries in the UN 2022

The United Nations, or UN, is a global organization dedicated to preserving international harmony and cooperation among its member states. United Nations (UN) is the world’s biggest and most powerful international body.

On June 26, 1945, the United Nations Charter was ratified. Later that year, on October 24, the charter entered into force.

Initially, there were just 51 members of the United Nations. There are now 193 member nations and two observer countries in the Organization.

Four nations came together to create what is now known as the United Nations: Britain, the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union (now known as Russia). Delegates from this country agreed upon the structure and purposes of the Organization.

There are five main parts to the UN. The General Assembly handles the budget, and new members may be admitted. The Secretariat meets each body’s administrative needs. Maintaining world order and stability falls on the United Nations Security Council.

Legal cases are heard and decided by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The Economic and Security Council oversees international economic and social cooperation among member nations.

The Trusteeship Council, which used to serve as the Organization’s primary organ, has been dormant since 1994.

The United Nations also has several specialized agencies that assist it in carrying out its mission. World Health Organization and the World Ford Program are two of these organizations that assist reduce malnutrition and hunger across the globe.

The United Nations has 193 member countries, as previously indicated. Observer states are also a thing. Participation by these countries is permitted, although there are restrictions. The General Assembly sets the amount of engagement observer nations may have.

Only Palestine and the Vatican City State are recognized as observer states at the time of writing.
