Phone calls may be made and received on the go using a cell phone, also known as a cellular phone or mobile phone. These days, we refer to mobile phones (or cell phones) since they operate on a cellular network.
Cell phones have evolved to include many features besides voice conversations, including email, SMS messages, Internet access, photography, video recording, and Bluetooth connection.

Finnish inventor Eric Tigerstedt patented the first mobile phone in 1917 as a pocket-size folding telephone with an extremely thin carbon microphone. Forerunners to modern mobile phones, such as ship and train analogue radio communications.
Thanks to advancements in metal-oxide-semiconductor large-scale integration technology, information theory, and cellular networking, mobile phones are now widely available and inexpensive.
In 1973, Motorola’s John F. Mitchell and Martin Cooper showed off the world’s first portable mobile phone, a device that weighed in at over four and a half pounds.
The first mobile phone network was established in Japan by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone in 1979. In 1983, DyanTAC 8000x was released as the first commercially accessible mobile phone.
In 1992, IBM introduced the world to the first commercially available smartphone with the release of the Simon Personal Communicator. About 78% of all mobile phone sales are smartphones.
Thanks to various programs that can be downloaded straight to the user’s device, modern smartphones offer limitless capabilities, including video chats, GPS navigation, powerful cameras, and several other tasks.
The number of people with mobile phone subscriptions increased to nearly 7 billion between the launching of the DyanTAC 8000x in 1983 and 2014. Samsung, Huawei, and Apple have the top three selling smartphones in the United States as of the first quarter of 2020.
