US Trade Deficit by Country 2022

It is common knowledge that the phrase “trade deficit” refers to the fact that the global economy is running at a deficit. This signifies that the country’s imports are more than its exports.

Trade deficits occur when a nation expends more money than it obtains in revenue from its exports. The United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States are just a few countries with large trade imbalances.

There is the highest trade imbalance in the world involving the United States. This country’s trade imbalance amounted to $621 billion in 2018. The nation exported barely $2.5 trillion in goods and services for all its imports.

Automobiles, food, and commercial airplanes were among the most popular American exports. Cell phones, gasoline, and automobiles were the three most important imports.

China is the source of the United States’ greatest trade imbalance. In reality, imports from China account for nearly 65 percent of the trade imbalance, or $419 billion. Clothing, manufacturing, and electronics are among the most common items acquired from China by the United States.

Trade deficits between the United States and Mexico are also a fact of life. Just $81 billion separates the United States from China regarding the trade imbalance. Vehicles and car components have been among the $346 billion in Mexican imports to the United States.

The United States has the third greatest trade imbalance with Germany, at $68.2 billion. The United States imported $126 billion in automobile components, cars, pharmaceuticals, and other equipment.

The US trade imbalance with Japan is $67.6 billion. Japan’s biggest exports to the United States are vehicles and industrial products.

The US trade imbalance with Canada is $20 billion. More crude oil and gas is imported from Canada by the United States than exported.

The following are the ten nations with the greatest trade imbalance:
