Paris Climate Agreement Countries 2022

This deal was created in 2015 during the Paris Climate Conference, known as the Paris Agreement or the Paris Climate Agreement. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed this important agreement to fight climate change and its detrimental effects.

Representatives from 196 nations convened in Le Bourget, France, in 2015 for the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) to discuss the agreement’s wording. The agreement was unanimously accepted on December 12th, 2015.

Summary of the Paris Climate Agreement

There are 32 pages in the Paris Agreement, a framework for global action on climate change, which was signed in December 2015.

By decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, the pact hopes to limit global warming; provide a framework for openness, accountability, and progress toward more ambitious goals; and raise funds for poor countries’ efforts to combat climate change and adapt to it.

Climate change poses a danger to the planet and all of mankind, which is why the Paris Agreement is critical. Threatening global weather patterns and increasing the likelihood of natural catastrophes are consequences of global warming.

A warming climate puts people’s health at risk. A multinational effort is the only way to combat global warming.

Droughts, heatwaves, wildfires, floods, and hurricane-force storms are all becoming more likely as the Earth’s average temperature rises. Rising sea levels and coastal erosion occur when warmer temperatures melt ice caps, glaciers, and permafrost.

Ecosystems and their migratory patterns and life cycles are disrupted by increased temperatures, harsh weather events, and rising sea levels.

As a result of climate change, our air, water, and food are at risk, as well as our health and safety. People are forced to evacuate their homes by wildfires every year. The flames ravage thousands of acres, destroying many families’ houses.

Pollution is directly linked to respiratory illness and cardiovascular fatalities due to climate change.

If global temperatures increase by more than 2 degrees Celsius, it would devastate the Earth, producing natural catastrophes, melting the Arctic, and the potential for mass extinctions.

Only a global effort can successfully address global warming when the whole planet is in jeopardy. Capturing global heat increase this century at 1.5 degrees Celsius is the objective of the pact.

It may not seem like a big deal, but the 0.5-degree change would significantly affect low-lying countries and coral reefs.

The cost of the Paris Agreement

Carbon pollution reduction is more expensive than doing nothing, according to research. Trump stated that the Paris Agreement would cost the US economy $3 trillion by 2040 and 2.7 million jobs by 2025, but this was not the case.

According to a recent analysis, the US might lose as much as $6 trillion in the future decades if it fails to reach its Paris climate objectives. Furthermore, failure to fulfill the agreed-upon targets would result in a 25% drop in global GDP.

The renewable energy business in the United States also employs around 3 million people, which is nearly 14 times the number of people employed in the oil and gas industry. In the 2030s, more than 500,000 employment might be created via investments in clean, renewable energy companies.

Paris Climate Agreement Countries

Usually, international leaders cannot agree on anything, but with the Paris Agreement, leaders from around the globe agreed that human activity is the primary cause of climate change.

At the UNFCCC, representatives of 196 nations worked out a deal on climate change, and on December 12th, 2015, it was unanimously approved.

The agreement was reached on April 22nd, with the agreement coming into force on November 4th. As of February 2020, the agreement has been signed by 189 of the UNFCC’s members. Angola, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Libya, South Sudan, and Turkey remained signatories but did not become parties.
