With a population of approximately 20.6 million people, Florida is the third most populous state in the United States, accounting for 6.38 percent of the total population.

It is also the eighth-most populous state in the United States. Tallahassee is the state’s capital, while Jacksonville, with a population of over 880,000, is the state’s most populous city. Because of the 186,102 military retirees who lived in the state in 2008, Florida has the largest proportion of individuals over 65.

The assessment is based on a 1.58 percent average annual growth rate for the previous ten years from 2011. We think that utilizing numbers from recent years (see table in the following section) will improve the accuracy of the estimate.

Demographics of Florida

According to the United States Census Bureau, Florida has a male population of 48.88 percent and a female population of 51.12 percent. Because the average male age is 39 and the average female age is 42, the average state age is 42, which is much higher than the national average.

For residents of Florida, the top five races are as follows: white (72.5%), black (23.9%), Asian (3.4%), native (0.1%), and Hispanic (28.5%)

Spanish (19.54 percent), French Creole (1.84 percent), French (0.6 percent), Portuguese (0.5 percent), and German are the top five languages spoken in Florida (other than English) (0.42 percent ).
