At EPCOT, there is a section devoted to showcasing the country’s pavilions worldwide. As part of the theme park, pavilions refer to the buildings specifically created for each nation.
At one-and-a-half miles in diameter, the pavilions of the World Showcase form a circle. Only nine nations were included in the World Showcase when EPCOT originally opened.
The Moroccan Pavilion was built and opened to the public in 1984. The World Showcase built a pavilion for Norway in 1988, four years later. EPCOT’s World Showcase is unique in that each pavilion is intended to give guests the impression that they are genuinely in the nation they are visiting.
The Walt Disney World Resort’s EPCOT theme park is located in Bay Lake, Florida, not far from Orlando. At its first opening in 1982, the park went by the name of EPCOT Center and was divided into two sections.
The first was Future World, a celebration of technology and innovation, which has subsequently expanded into three areas: World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature.
As for the second one, it’s still the World Showcase, which consists of a lagoon-surrounded “pavillions” (really tiny communities).
The architecture, look, cuisine, shopping, and culture of each pavilion are modelled by those of a different nation.

When Walt Disney came up with the idea for EPCOT, he referred to it as “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow,” and the term stuck. The man who conceived Walt Disney World had the vision to turn the property he owned in Florida into a hub for new ideas.
He sought to create a virtual metropolis that represented the globe as a whole by bringing together all of the continents and countries of the planet. Before EPCOT Center opened in 1982, Walt Disney died, but his plan has remained and evolved until this day.
When EPCOT Center debuted in 1982, there were nine pavilions, and two more were built in 1984 and 1988, respectively, making it ten.
There is more to each country’s pavilion than just a peek. Rather, each pavilion was built by a team of Disney Imagineers who went to great efforts to replicate the country’s culture, beauty, and identity.
The pavilions of the World Showcase also contain themed rides, attractions, live events, and the restaurants, shops, and architecture of each nation.
Can we expect additional nations to be included in the EPCOT World Showcase in the future?
The World Showcase may grow in the future to include other nations. Fans like Yesterland, however, argue that there are other spots surrounding the lake where new pavilions may be built.
It’s not as if the United Nations doesn’t recognize enough nations; there are approximately 200.
More than a few nations have been mentioned as potential World Showcase additions for decades; several of these countries have appeared in Disney advertising materials.
