United States

Most missions have been launched from Earth by the United States of America. It’s the second nation to send people into space after the United States of America. The Mercury Program’s maiden space mission for the Soviet Union.




The initiative ran for five years and cost the federal government around $277 million. America’s most well-known space mission was the Apollo, budgeted at $20.4 billion and expected to last for 15 years.

Russian (Soviet Union)

For the first time in history, Russia launched a space mission and sent people into space. Vostok was Russia’s first mission into space.

The Russian government spent $2.4 billion in 2009 on official space programs. According to their 2013 planned space budget, the government spent $3.8 billion in 2011 and $5.6 billion in 2013.

China

China’s space program is overseen by the China National Space Administration (CNSA). After the United States and Russia, China is the third nation to sell individuals into space independently.

One of China’s earliest communication satellites, Dong Fang Hong – I, was launched in 1970. There have been several successful Chinese space missions throughout the years. China now holds the position of the world’s third-largest space power.

France

Japan

Iran
